2008 Photography Workshops

Professional Photographer Nick Moore, offers Photography workshops throughout the year. These half day or full day workshops are designed for beginners and intermediate photographers. The workshops are designed at locations Nick has thorough knowledge of, maximizing the opportunities at each location enables a wide variety of shooting situations and subjects. Due to Nick having relocated from NC to CO in 2007, the following NC workshops are unavailable. Watch this space for future workshop news.

Crabtree Falls:

There are two reasons that Crabtree meadows on the Blue Ridge Parkway (mile marker 339.5), are an excellent workshop venue: Spring flowers and of course Crabtree Falls. The emphasis in this workshop program will be exposure and composition, and macro photography.

Difficulty: Moderate; 3 mile round-trip along wooded trails.
1/2 day workshops: 4/28/07 or 5/5/07

Full day workshop: 4/28/07 or 5/5/07 (includes Linville Falls top viewpoint) Click for Pricing

Mabry Mill:

Mabry Mill is probably by far one of the most well known spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway (mile marker 176.2), as well as one of the most photographed. There is plenty to photograph here, from the classic Mill reflection (if lucky with the Rhododendron in bloom), to the Mill wheel and other exhibits. The emphasis in this workshop program will be exposure and composition, and finding shots within shots.

Difficulty: Easy; less than a mile on well marked trails.

1/2 day workshops: 5/19/07

Full day workshop: 5/19/07 (includes Groundhog mountain, Pucketts cabin)

Linville Falls:

One of the best known waterfalls in North Carolina provides us with an excellent workshop venue. Linville gorge is one of the deepest gorges in Eastern USA, and is one of my personal favorite spots. The emphasis in this workshop will be exposure and composition, how to create great waterfall images, and how to shoot cascades/river scenes.

Difficulty: Moderate to Strenuous; 2 + mile round trip.
1/2 day workshops: 6/9/07 or 6/23/07
Full day workshop: 6/9/07 or 6/23/07 (includes bottom of Gorge and top viewpoints, and possibly Crabtree Falls)

*2007 Fall colors*:

The Blue Ridge Parkway and NC mountains burst into life with reds, oranges and yellows during October. Fall colour can begin as early as late September, and go through to mid November. I have found in the past, that flexiblity works best for this workshop. Instead of taking students to the Smoky Mountains, I like to use the best areas the Blue Ridge Parkway has to offer. The location of this workshop varies year to year, depending on where the colors are best, and the date of the workshop - wherever the color is we'll try and find it. Expect to shoot: waterfalls, cascades, valleys, and fall colours.

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate;
1/2 day workshops: 10/13/07 or 10/20/07

Full day workshops: 10/13/07 or 10/20/07
